Train Party Game Ideas

Idea 1 - Free play, bring out your trains (and maybe borrow a friends) for free play time

Idea 2 - Make a Train with boxes. Go to a local store and ask for some old boxes. Have the
kid's decorate them and make a train. Then have the kids take turns "riding" in the train

Idea 3 - Tickets! Hand out tickets when kids arrive. Make sure the tickets are numbered.
Throughout the party pull a number from a hat and award the winning ticket a prize. Make
sure all the numbers are called out by the end of the party.

Idea 4 - Have shoe boxes, buttons, construction paper, and paper towel rolls and make your own trains with these materials.

Idea 5 - Help the engines find their colors non-competitive game: Make a train track on the driveway with sidewalk chalk. Make construction paper tickets out of red, blue, green and black. Have the kids write their names on the tickets. Have different stops along the track with signs that say or picture James, Percy, Edward, Diesel (no colors if you use pictures). The first time around hand out a colored tickets (make sure they do not match. Ex. James station hands out black, Percy station hands out blue...). The second time around have them drop the color at the correct engine. James=red, Percy=green, Edward=blue, Diesel=black. Give out prizes at the end for good matching!

Idea 6 - Train Toot story.  Read a Thomas the Tank Engine story and have the kids blow their whistle each time they hear the word "Thomas".
